Search and Rescue TrainingFirefighters have their skills put to the test.4/26/2012 On Thursday Evening, April 26, Captain Anthony Miranda with the help of Captain Chris Wilson conducted a Search and Rescue training drill.
Firefighters were led through a few basic scenarios that required them to search for, locate, and remove a victim.
Captain Miranda plans to continue on with a few more Search and Rescue drills on Thursday nights at 19:00 hours. Check the bulletin board in the engine room to sign up if interested.
Extrication Training4/12/2012 7:00PM On Thursday night, April 12th, a few members gathered together for an Extrication Drill led by Captain Anthony Miranda.
Members in attendance were FF Jordan Ryan, FF Jeremy Hannigan, FF Emily Coonradt, FF Jeff Coonradt, and FF Bobby Busta.
These members were led through basic stabilization techniques, as well as working with hydraulic tools.
Live Fire TrainingWynantskill Fire Department Conducts Live Fire Training3/27/2012 On Tuesday March 20th and Tuesday March 27th, Wynantskill Fire Department conducted live fire training with a donated CDTA bus. Firefighters trained on their skills of fire attack/suppression, ventilation, and search/rescue.
DeFreestville Fire Department was also involved in one of the nights of training.
WFD Fish FryA special thanks to all3/31/2012 This year during Lent, WFD held Fish Fry nights as a fundraiser. Past Chief/President John Hanlon Sr. chaired the events and well over 350 meals were served. I wish to thank all of the members who devoted their time to support these events and those members who came to eat and brought their friends and families.
Past Chief/President Hanlon is preparing another BBQ Rib Night in the near future, stay tuned for more info
April Department MeetingApril 20124/03/2012 On April 3, 2012, The WFD held their monthly business meeting. Welcomed into the ranks were Daniel Bornhorst Jr and Jacob Huerter. Several By-Law changes were passed and are being forwarded to the Department Legal Counsel for review. During the meeting WFD and North Greenbush Ambulance responded to a Carbon Monoxide Call, in the Snyder's Lake portion of town. Also at the meeting Thomas Riston was awarded his retirement, presented by Chief John O'Bomsawin and Past Chief/President David Wilson.
