New law to increase emergency vehicle visibilityFrom CapitalNews9 - YNN6/18/2010 NEW YORK STATE -- New legislation passed by the state Senate would increase visibility of emergency vehicles. The bill would require motorists to reduce speed when passing an emergency situation along a highway but it would also allow fire companies to install additional blue lights on the rear of their vehicles.
Studies have shown that those blue lights are more noticeable. Current law allows them on police and volunteer firefighter vehicles. But use of the blue lights is currently prohibited on all other fire vehicles.
